The Crossroads Art District community has so much to do with Galleries, Artists, Breweries, Restaurants, and great music. Comedy is back in the Crossroads at MOD Gallery & Space, On Monday evening, July 19, 2021, MOD Gallery & Space had National Headliner Comedian Davey Wester perform. The show was organized by Comedian Jon Schieszer, a good friend of MOD’s owner, Brian Ousley. “MOD is a big fan of Davey Wester and wanted him to stop off on his way to Las Vegas, so they scheduled a show through his booker Herron Entertainment.” Comedian Jon Schieszer stated.
The show began with Jon Schieszer on stage giving a tremendous stand-up act. Then Jon introduced a young comedian that is a Hollywood and Improv favorite Connor Hangslaben. Davey, Connor, and Jon all gave hilarious performances on the stage in MOD’s front gallery.
Ronald L. Herron is the owner of Herron Entertainment and an established talent manager with over 20 years in the world of showbiz. Herron also makes bookings for thousands of comedians and probably booked over 6000 shows last year. On Herron’s Entertainment Facebook page, there are links to opening comedy shows in various breweries across the country. Still, on this particular evening, MOD Gallery & Space began the comedy in the Crossroads.
Jon Schieszer tells it all in an interview as he talks about how he got started in comedy and on his journey in comedy how he met Davey Wester in LA. Schieszer had to couch surf for about a year before establishing roots in Hollywood and at the Comedy Store. Schieszer met Connor Hangsleben through Davey Wester in Minnesota.
Schieszer first got interested in comedy by going to an open-mic and was not impressed. He kept going back not to listen but to participate. Schieszer got his initial start at Stanford & Sons, where he did his first stand-up act. “There is a lot of comedy going on in the Midwest right now,” Jon Schieszer, Comedian states. Schieszer recently moved back to Kansas City from Hollywood, California.
Davey Wester, Jon Schieszer, and Brody Stevens (RIP) last had a show at MOD Gallery & Space on August 8, 2018. It is good to have a comedy show back at MOD! Hopefully, this will be the start of a regular stop when the guys are in town.
